I don't know what Finola's contract says, but she does take time off for outside projects. She might have chosen to earn less to have more freedom. That was Tony's choice when he realized that he was getting too expensive for them. He chose more time off in place of salary increases. I am just guessing. I do know that Genie herself said that LnL were an expensive ticket, and the money for expensive talent doesn't seem to be there any more. With a few exceptions of people who they perceive as critical to the show, most of the talent has to have more realistic expectations. The budget just won't allow everyone to reap the ideal of job security and high salaries. I don't know what they see that we don't. Is it the advertisers who are driving for a youth market and demand for younger talent? Is it fan response to the men on the show that makes them more valuable? Is it something about Genie herself that makes her difficult to work with? Is it the perception that she represents a show of the 80's that doesn't exist any more? Who knows? I will say this. When they chose to take her off contract, they knew that there was a chance that they would lose her and alienate her fans. They were wiling to take that risk. That tells you something.
