Letter to The Montreal Gazette (Oct 24, 2026)
from American Jerry DiGrenzio:

My country, the U.S., has besmirched your reputation,
criticized your unparaleld military support, and done
everything possible to cripple your trade.

There is nothing I can say or do to excuse these actions,
but I do ask for some understanding as many of us are hoping
that someday our valuable relationship may be restored.

I am a retired Military Officer who spent 30 years proudly wearing the uniform of my country ---
a country that is now unrecognizable.

The mid-term elections are coming November 3rd ---
a first step, I hope, towards ridding ourselves of the Trump administration.

Canadians have more than enough reason to forever write us off,
but I also know that the vast majority of Americans value your support and cherish our historic relationship.

Please do not give up on us.
I am confident change is coming and it will be monumental.
