I'm writing this late on Saturday night, hence the title.
I haven't posted in the last few years, though I read everything that appears here daily and on our late friend Rick Daly's FolkUSA site.
Part of the reason is that I kinda wrote myself out. I started filing posts like this one around 2007 and did the last one in 2017, a total of more than 200 in toto. Because Boardhost doesn't archive posts beyond a few weeks, at the suggestion of someone - I'm thinking that it was the estimable Rick Godwin - I reposted my litle scribblings to the Blogspot site under the title of Comparative Video 101, where the 200+ posts have resided comfortably for nearly 20 years.
I am a college teacher in California by profession and not a writer per se, but I take a degree of pride in the CompVid101 project. Some of the articles were pretty good, and the site still generates a few hundred views per week and a handful of comments from folks who somehow stumble across my site.
I enjoyed a visit from an old university friend last week, and he remarked that he still looked in on CV101 from time to time and enjoyed this song in particular. It's an old KT favorite performed by my Fantasy Camp friends John Bircher and Bruce Blazej with me - we called ourselves The Chilly Winds - and I wanted to see if I could still post videos and links. So here are the original Chilly Winds (John and Bruce are East Coasters and continue to perform as the CW with good friend Dennis Ray) with our take on my favorite KT song, "The Sinking of the Reuben James" from one of our performances at the Mountain Music Festival in Manitou Springs CO in 2005, I believe. We were lucky enough to secure the assistance of the fabulous Dave Batti, for 20+ years John Stewart's bass player. I have forgotten how we tricked Dave into this.
The link to the full CV101 is here: http://compvid101.blogspot.com/
