"Phil Everly was one of my great heroes. With his brother Don, they were one of the major influences on The Beatles.
When John (Lennon) and I first started to write songs, I was Phil and he was Don.
I will always love The Everly Brothers for giving me some of the sweetest musical memories of my life."
And as a point of interest:
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel got their start (as "Tom & Jerry") sounding like The Everly Brothers which they perfected,
soon after "Simon & Garfunkel" recorded for Columbia Records. (1964)
Thirdly - our beloved Kingston Trio paid homage to The Everly Brothers on their magnificent "String Along" album (rel 1961) in the song "Everglades" :
"Runnin' Thru The Trees From The Everlys"
<> Bird Dog / Everly Brothers
<> All I Have To Do Is Dream / Everly Brothers
