As you stated, subjective. I always ask the writer to substitute " My Personal Favorite" for "Best". If we went by commercial success "Stardust" was the leader, until replaced by "Crazy" MANY years later. Many on this board would say "Scotch and Soda"...as you say "Subjective" Peace TC

Obviously, the answer is subjective: personal feelings, personal tastes or personal opinions.
As someone who owns so many BOB DYLAN records and he's considered to be the #1 Best Songwriter in America,
I was curious as to what Bob considered to be the best song ever written.
After all, BOB DYLAN wrote hundreds of songs, so he must have considered one of these songs to be his favorite?
- Blowin' In The Wind
- A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall
- Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
- The Times They Are A-Changin'
- Boots Of Spanish Leather
- Just Like A Woman
And there's so much more to choose from!
But when BOB DYLAN was asked what he considered to be the Best Song Ever Written, he didn't choose any of his own songs.
Bob chose Jimmy Webb's "WICHITA LINEMAN" ~ written in 1968 for Glen Campbell who told Rolling Stone Magazine ----
"Wichita was the first existential Country Love Song ever written, including these heartfelt beautiful words" :
And I need you more than want you,
And I want you for all time,
And the Wichita Lineman is still on the line.
