I discovered the music of this duo a few days ago on WRUR FM 88.5 Rochester, New York. The duo is out of Ithaca, New York, about 70 miles southeast as the crow flies from where I live in Rochester. Richie & Rosie perform a palette of traditional music and their compositions. Has vocal and instrumental performance and harmony ever sounded better than this? Richie is the first clawhammer banjo player I've ever heard/seen shred on a 5-string banjo--Grandpa Jones comes close, but Richie gets my vote for controlled rhythmic and melodic wildness! If the first song in this full-length concert, "Say, Darling, Say," doesn't lure you into their earthy, musical magic, y'ain't an acoustician!
