Bob Dylan recorded FREEWHELIN' during 1962. The "Cold War" was heating up (in lack of a better term) between JFK and Nikita Khruchev.
The Soviet Union placed nuclear missiles in Cuba with the intention of targeting Florida and other parts of the United States.
In the liner notes of FREEWHEELIN' - Bob Dylan says he wrote a whole bunch of songs thinking he would not "have much time alive" to keep on writing.

In my opinion, and contrary to Santayana, history can, will, and must repeat itself because if you change the time, place, situation, and add personal and mass ignorance of past matters, it's no wonder that history sort of repeats itself.
