Max, for the record (pun intended) I've got every Folkways album by PETE SEEEGER and a few of his COLUMBIA RECORDS as well.
And of course ---> all THE WEAVERS albums!!! (I was OK with Erik Darling replacing Pete...but it hurt)
"Waist Deep In The Big Muddy" is a great song, and if I recall, it became a problem when Pete Seeger wanted to perform this song
on The Smothers Brothers Show in 1967. [Vietnam War]
CBS censors refused to allow Pete to sing "Waist Deep In The Big Muddy" because in the verse -----
"We were knee-deep in the Big Muddy but the big fool says to push on..."
CBS implied that "The Big Fool" referred to President Lyndon Johnson.
