I was a fan of both Kingston Trio and Beach Boys. I'm sorry to hear about Brian Wilson's passing but did not know he disliked the Kingston Trio.
Hard to believe! Anyway, for what it's worth, I prefer the Kingston Trio's version of Sloop John over the Beach Boys.
