Back about 1984 they started a car show concours at Churchill Downs.
I was a subscriber of Classic Car Magazine.
So, I volunteered to take photographs for the magazine for this classic car show.
At the time, I had a 1965 Mustang convertible.
It was a real rust bucket. The floor was out in the back seat.
I'd cut a plastic garbage can and had bondoed it to make a new quarter panel on one side.
It had a 6-cylinder engine.
But, I've got to tell you, I had more fun with that car than any other one I've ever had.
I drove it from Louisville to Orlando to attend a conference and drove there with the top down going and coming home.
On the way back, I stayed at a motel in Ga that was the motel where the cast and crew stayed when they were making Smokey and the Bandit.
When we moved to NC I put it in storage. When we returned to KY 5 years later, it had completely rusted out. I sold it for parts.
There's an outfit that will build you a new Mustang ... any model you want with an updated engine and electronics for $100,000. I'll get one as soon as I win the lottery. Just like my 65 convertible.
