Thanks, Max. It's called dual sourcing. I have a few guitars with dual-source pickup systems and one with a triple-source system. The idea is to combine the best characteristics of each system depending on the venue in which a player is performing. Some pickup systems sound more "acoustic-guitar-like," while some, like a magnetic pickup, offer more gain before feedback. Multiple onboard systems enable a player to adjust the overall amplified tone to suit a venue's acoustics as a means to get the best possible tone across to the audience.
