Who knows? Maybe they'll give you a raise! (hahaha)
The last time I asked for a raise, I was given a higher chair. No way it helped me pay the rent!
More background on >>> ANNA (GO TO HIM) <<<
The song appeared on THE BEATLES first album PLEASE PLEASE ME (released only in England in March 1963 on Parlophone Records).
A year before, "Anna (Go To Him)" was recorded by its writer, Arthur Alexander. His version was released as a 45rpm single by Dot Records.
John Lennon apparently fell in love with this song the second he heard it.
So much so, "Anna (Go To Him)" became part of THE BEATLES early repertoire; performed at concerts, and made its way to the Fab Four's
very first album for Parlophone Records: PLEASE PLEASE ME
Songwriter Arthur Alexander based the song's lyrics on the early days of his relationship with his girlfriend (and then later, his wife), Ann.
Ironically, although Arthur Alexander wrote "Anna" from the abandoned lover's point of view, it was actually Arthur himself who had been unfaithful to Ann.
Says John Lennon: "I guess the writer (Arthur Alexander) was doing so much soul searching in those days, it gave this song a lot of soul." [laughing]
As for the title >>> "ANNA (GO TO HIM)" :
Arthur Alexander felt "ANNA" sounded better than "ANN" ----
and somehow singing "GO WITH HIM" also sounded better than "GO TO HIM" but decided to keep the title as is.

Larry, thanks for the earworm! I've been singing "Anna (Go To Him)" all day at work.
It's no secret I've been enjoying the new BEATLES albums (7 of them) recently re-issued by Capitol Records.
These 7 LPs are "Mono" but they look and sound amazing. You don't even need a good record player.
And as a bonus, these album covers which honor and respect the original releases (1964) are glossy.
Visually stunning!
If only Capitol Records would do something like this for THE KINGSTON TRIO.
Am I asking too much? Probably!
Right now, I'm listening to one of the 7 Capitol LPs entitled "THE EARLY BEATLES" ---
and it's gotta include one of the most under-rated BEATLES songs ever recorded: ANNA (GO TO HIM)
A tremendous lead vocal by John Lennon, who absolutely loved this song, while George Harrison accompanies John on guitar.
