Several thoughts on this.....
I learned about it a week or so afterward....
By this time, Nick and I had developed a routine..
Every time I went to a show....
I got there in time for sound-check...
Afterward... Nick and I found a bar and we had a beer.
Nick always started out with ....
"I think it's my turn to buy."
We NEVER talked about music.
I never talked about music with BOb or Nick.
Music was business to these guys.....
No longer, fun....
Maybe in a few instances .... but, not many.
If we did talk about music.... it was someone else's.
I remember when Bob was very excited about discovering Diana Krall.
She was just a kid then.
I was publishing my magazine then....
MAX Magazine....for people 50 and beyond.
Nick loved my magazine...
I usually brought the latest issue .. I gave him a copy and he looked through it.
Nick was heavy into photography and I was too...still am.
So, we often talked about photography.
The guys toured the Nikon factory when they went to Japan...
That was the start of it for him.
Afterward... he said he got a Minolta.
His latest camera was a point and shoot.
Bob had one too then.
Wouldn't you love to see their photographs?
Bobbie insisted that Bob have one so he would have photographs of what they did when they were on the road.
Bob mostly went to Antique places.
George has many stories about the hours he spent with Bob at antique places.
Of course, I was saddened to learn that Nick was retiring again.
But, his hip problems had become unbearable by then.
He had to almost be carried on stage.
Shane later told me that Nick quit as soon as his mother died.
Because he inherited over a million bucks from her...which came from her sister....
A while after this....with some help from some of John's fans, he and Nick started Trio camp.
It was to raise money for Buffy to have an eye operation.
I saw Nick at camp the first year we went.
He died not long after that.
Here's a pic of us at camp....I'd just gotten a 1959 left-handed tenor.... after many years of searching.

Lots of good memories of Nick !!!!!!!
Best of all ... Singing "One More Town" with him backstage at a show at the Rhyman in 1966.
My favorite Trio song..
