Earlier today, I was listening to the song "Brother Can You Spare A Dime?" from the PP&M album: See What Tomorrow Brings.
It was written by lyricist Yip Harburg and composer Jay Garney. The song was part of a 1932 musical revue AMERICANA.
"Brother Can You Spare A Dime?" tells the story of the universal "everyman" whose honest work towards achieving the American Dream

Our republic has stood since 1787. I have to believe for my grandkids that it will survive the attacks on it the since January 6th. Previous Message
With our democracy being dismantled right out in the open without a shot being fired, has America lost its spirit to resist the forces that would take our freedoms away? Some would say America never had a democracy in the first place. Has the definition of democracy gone askew for some? I guess that thought regimen makes it easy for some to fall prey to the darker elements in our society. So, where at least are the protest songs from our singer-songwriter artists to try to highlight the gravity of these dark ideas and times?
