Burt Reynolds was a welcome addition to the hit TV series Gunsmoke as "Quint Asper", often referred to as a "half-breed." He played for 3 seasons (1962-1965) and was offerred an extended contract. Burt became fed up with the monotony of his "half-breed" character and in addition, Milburn Stone (who played "Doc") encouraged Burt Reynolds to leave television and get into movies.
