The Vega was THE folk banjo because of Pete.
It was lighter.
I once had a conversation with Bob about banjos...
He said they're too damn loud for vocals, and they never stay in tune.
They took off the resonators so they wouldn't be so loud.
In this instance ... I think for Bob, it was a case of less is more.
But, if you wanted a really top quality banjo, Vega had it with the tubaphone VOX. That's where Vega had it over all the other banjos.
