This was a big mistake on his part.
I was very lucky.
I got to know Bob, and I spent a lot of time with him before he got old.
This was before he moved to Phoenix.
When he lived in Georgia, the Trio did a lot of shows on the East coast. That's how I was able to see him so often.
When he moved to Phoenix, the Trio didn't do as many shows on the East coast and we didn't see as much of each other.
Then, Bob had his heart problems, and had to retire from the road.
Bob was a road person.
Being at home all the time, and not being on stage ... performing was his downfall.
This was how he let his age get the best of him.
You should do what you have to do to avoid getting old.
There is only one way to do this.
You have to find something new that you've never done before to become passionate about.
If you keep on doing what you've always done, it's going to change.
Everything changes.
You're not going to like the changes.
You'll greatly resent them, and this will make you old because old people are constantly saying, "This new shit is not any good... it's not as good as it was when I was young.
If you jump into something new, it will be new, and not old to you.
If there are old timers among the people in your new shit, avoid them like the plague.
Find young people to hang out with.
Lie about your age. Tell them you have a terrible disease that caused you to age prematurely. But, you're really just 28.
Don't invite them to your birthday parties where there are so many candles on your cake.
Do everything you can to avoid getting old.
It sucks !!!
