It came back on yesterday afternoon....
Four days with no power, heat, or light at night.
No TV, no internet, no nothin...
But, stove top meals .... we have a gas stove.
What do you do for four days when the only thing you can turn on is a flashlight?
Over 250,000 homes in Louisville were without electricity.
Why?
Lots of old trees came down in a big wind storm, and they brought power lines with them.
Crews came to Louisville from Chicago to help get the lines back up.
In our neighborhood, a big tree came down and it knocked a pole down.
I counted six big utility trucks with buckets. 12 people from the trucks. They were all standing around talking.
A new pole was sitting on the ground.
They were waiting for a truck that had a drill to make a hole for the new pole.
It took another day for a truck with a drill to arrive.
They put the new pole up, and we soon had electricity again.
But, still on the ground were the telephone lines, the cable lines, and the internet lines. There's no telling when they'll be put back up....but, we are lucky, our fiber optics internet lines weren't damaged, even though they're on the ground.
