This thought crossed my mind when I was watching Vince ....
I think Chet would have been smart enough to not want the Trio to go country.
I think he would have greatly valued folk.
I also think that Chet would have valued what the Trio had far more than anyone else.
The people at Capitol were all about big band sounds.
To them... 3 guitars weren't enough.
I like Diana Krall because there's her on piano, a bass player, drums, guitar and a violin.... the violin for jazz is unheard of.
I don't like big band... to me... it's noise.
In Nashville, they would have greatly appreciated the simplicity of the early Trio music.
Chet would have known just what to do with Dave.... a musical genius who was terrible with people.
Frank was a train wreck. Terrible at everything except finding these guys and making them work at getting better.
After the 3rd album.... they were out of his league.
If anything like the Trio ever happens again... it will be in Nashville.
One of Vince's grand kids will buy an old Trio album......
