The Smothers Brothers performed at a charity event here in Montreal at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel.
This took place in the 1990's but I forget the actual date.

Because I knew one of the show's promoters, Steven Cooper, a group of us were able to go backstage and meet Tom & Dick Smothers.

They were very receptive and we all had a terrific time.

I told Tommy I had several of their records and mentioned how The Kingston Trio had such a big influence on Folk Music back in the day.

Tom Smothers looks at me and says....

>>> "The Kingston Trio? Who are they?" <<< {hahaha}

TOM:
Dick, you could tell who's running the country by how much clothes they got on.

DICK:
You mean some people can afford to buy more clothes while ordinary folks have less on?
Is that what you're telling me?

TOM:
That's right, Dick. The less clothes a person wears, the better leaders they would be.

DICK:
So who's running the country?

TOM:
The morons.
