Luckily, I was still able to get hold of "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" on CD.
Here's the "LIVE" version recorded at the Greek Theatre in 1977 ~> released on the album:

"I don't want to be Jonathan's voice. I want to be his heart." - Neil Diamond
Bruce, I actually have the book and the movie.
Hi Max!
Bruce here, and the reason I'm using the name "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" will be self-evident below.
I just wanted to tell you I'm glad you went to a Neil Diamond concert. I never got to see him in person....
but I've heard Neil puts on a tremendous show. Happy for you that it's in your memoirs !!!
Jonathan Livingston Seagull:
He's the seagull who goes his own way and does not become part of the flock.
In the words of Neil Diamond:
"I didn't have the vaguest idea how to write songs from a seagull's point of view, so I turned down their offer to do the film's soundtrack.
Then I thought about it a little more and decided to do it. I felt nobody else had more insight into writing for a seagull, so why not?
Besides, in some ways I could relate to Jonathan feeling like an outcast." - Neil Diamond
