He asked me if I wanted to be a Billboard College Correspondent ……..

I said “Sure” and he set it up for me.

The deal was …..

I got my pick of 4 albums for every story I wrote on college concerts.

I got a backstage pass.

Got to meet all the heavy weights of the day.

3 women wouldn’t give me their autographs… no problem from any of the guys

So, when Ray Charles came to town ………

I just couldn’t do it …….

I didn’t want to do anything.

So, I asked my pal Marvin to do it.

He did.

He said Ray was great.

About 20 years ago………

I called Marvin.

We had a nice talk.

We talked about Ray…..

About 3 years later ………

I called Marvin.

Phone was disconnected.

I’ve been searching for Marvin ever since.

I keep wondering if any of this is real.

I am absolutely certain that certain things happened on a certain date.

Things that happened when newsworthy things happened.

I check the dates of the newsworthy things.

They didn’t happen when I thought they did.

Someone moved them to a different date.
