We’d be talking about John Denver and golf.
Golf and John Denver ????????????
Prior to his death, the only thing current that I knew about John was that he’d taken up golf.
He was playing in the tournament that used to be called “The Crosby.”
It began with Bing’s getting some of his friends together to play golf and have a clambake.

They always sang together in the evening.
It was last held at Pebble Beach for many years

It eventually became a major pr-am golf tournament
and is held under a different name ….
Now, it’s the AT&T
Clint Eastwood got some investors together and they bought the course from its Japanese owners.
Every year, Clint came on TV to talk about the tournament while it was televised.
Before John died, Clint told that John had brought a helicopter to dry the greens after a heavy rain.
One of Bing’s favorite singers was Glen Campbell, who always played in the tournament.
Glen claimed to have participated in the tournament more times than any other amateur celebrity golfer.
Glenn was one helluva golfer.
When AT&T took over the tournament after Bing died, his wife, Kathryn started a new tournament in North Carolina.
I went to it in 1990 and Glenn was one of the celebrity players.
That’s where I met him.
Chuck lived near Pebble Beach, and had played the course many times.
Every year, when the tournament was on TV we watched it and talked on the phone.
Chuck knew all of the holes of the course.
Not long ago….Doris Day’s house was for sale.
It’s right down the road from the golf course.
I was going to buy it if I won the lottery.
I didn’t win…………
Maybe I will tomorrow…….
