Hi Max...and Thank You for posting Judy Collins singing "Bird On The Wire" written by our beloved Montreal poet, Leonard Cohen.
I haven't seen this video before so I appreciate this very much.
As you know, I found out about your "looking for me" from my friend Steve who visits Kingston Crossroads, but never posts anything.
I asked him why...and he always comes back with the same answer: "I have nothing to say."
Anyhow, I just wanted to acknowledge your post and thank you for thinking of me.
Once I'm here, I'll just mention Judy Collins new album "SPELLBOUND" released a few months ago.
I got hold of the LP {2 blue vinyl records} and it comes in a visually stunning "gatefold" jacket cover.
This album marks the first time Judy Collins has ever recorded a full set of songs written by her.
Each and every one of them: completely original material
Waaaaay back in the late 1960's when Judy Collins telephoned Leonard Cohen asking if he'd written anything new....
Leonard snapped back and said....
"Judy, why don't you write your own songs? You definitely have it within you. And don't worry, I'll always have songs to give to you.
But you should definitely try writing your own songs."
And Judy did exactly that....beginning with "Since You've Asked" on her 1967 "Wildflowers" album.
Okaaaaay.....going back to Judy Collins' latest album "SPELLBOUND"...it's an album worth owning.
Judy still has got the voice of an angel...and I love listening to her sing.
One of the songs deals with a car crash that took place in 1956. Judy was 17 years of age; she'd just finished drinking with her "long lost friend"....
and afterwards, got into her 1953 Chevy. Trouble is, she was intoxicated.
Judy drove down a mountain road, full speed ahead, and lost control of her Chevy. She came "this close" to killing two children...as well as herself.
When Judy Collins told the story to Leonard Cohen 10 years later, she said..."I can't believe I was driving so fast."
Leonard Cohen snapped back....
"No Judy, you weren't driving so fast. You were flying too low."
I won't go into anymore detail as I'm leaving for Saint-Agathe tomorrow morning and it's a 2 hour drive.
BEST REGARDS / STAY WELL / KEEP SAFE
