If you were to ask me why these two basketball greats like the Trio ...........

My answer would not be that they both liked folk music.

I don't think the term "Folk Music" gets the job done.

I think the key to it all are story songs.

Stories are what bring people together.

Are all folk songs story songs?

Many, and maybe most, but not all of them.

Scientists have found that the human brain craves stories.

People have to get them one way or another to survive.

It can be from books, TV, movies,and songs.

And now, the internet.

Where the Kingston Trio excelled was that in many instances, they didn't just sing the songs.

They acted them out.

This is why Tom Dooley was a hit.

When Bob sang his part ... you thought he was Tom Dooley.

They guys knew the importance of acting out their songs. I once had a very interesting discussion with Bob and Nick about this. They were telling me how convincing Sinatra was when he sang.
