I recently saw an advertisement for a vinyl album titled "Pat Boone Duets". Maybe this has been discussed here before, but I do not remember it.
The album was published in 2015 and is made up of audio clips from old TV shows with Boone accompanying various luminaries of the day.
Track 5 was titled Pat Boone & The Kingston Trio "Tom Dooley". Not to be confused with Boone's well-known rendition of "You're Gonna Miss Me" with the Guard Trio.
I did not want to buy the album and could not find an accessible download but I was able to locate a couple of sample clips of that song.
I thought that I recognised Pat Horine's voice and so I first thought it was the original New Kingston Trio, but there was just one other voice that I had never heard before. Certainly not Shane or Connor.
Overall, the performance was quite uninspiring vocally and instrumentally and sounded nothing like any configuration of The Trio that I knew. In fact it was likely not the KT at all.
Does anyone know this album and can they identify who was singing with Boone?
Was it a mistake by the publishers of the album, a company that seems to be associated with Pat Boone, or another example of the artistically fake KTs that we have experienced in recent times?
