Here's a story I don't belive I've ever told before.....
When my friend, Tom McGoodwin, went backstage to the Trio's concert at the University of Kentucky in 1963, the one i had my friends, John Bell and Mike Marsh tape for me because I couldn't be there because I was in Waco, Texas for a football game because I was the team's student manager, Tom found that Dean Riley was wrestling with a big problem.
Evidently back then, the venue supplied a bass for the Trio's concerts and the bass that the University of Kentucky had come up with had some serious problems. The thing-of-a-jig that serves as a bridge on a bass had fallen inside the bass and Dean wasn't able to fish it out. Tom found a coat hanger, and they bent it so they could get the gizmo out.
Dean always remembered that Tom had helped him solve this problem, and whenever Tom went to Trio concerts after that ... Dean was still thankful that tom had helped him solve this problem.
Dean was a very, very good guy !!!!!!!!!
I had many conversations with him...as did you at camp.
I was at camp 3 times.
My first time was the last year all three were alive.
I think you were there that year.
Then, two times afterward.
One of these times, there was a camper who brought an electric bass and an amp.
Having a bass made a world of difference.
This guy had an unusual last name...
He was a very likable chap...
I never saw him at camp again...
