In celebration of this week's release of the documentary Get Back , on Disney+, this week's SASS presents two duos singing their renditions of two Beatles classics from 1965's Rubber Soul album. Although I liked The Beatles after hearing their first records in early 1964, for me, Rubber Soul was a watershed album that piqued my interest in the band and made me a real fan from late-1965 onward.
MonaLisa Twins - Born in Austria, and now living in Liverpool, United Kingdom, MonaLisa Twins, real-life twins, have captured the spirit and tone of "I'm Looking Through You." The 6-string Deering Boston acoustic-electric banjo with its magnetic Kavanjo pickup renders the lead riffs of George's guitar tone surprisingly well!
Reina Del Cid - Returning for their fifth appearance on SASS, these ladies have become SASS favorites (notice how I try to promote a sense of community, nyuk nyuk nyuk). Here they've turned their magic loose on what has become a bluegrass band favorite, "I've Just Seen A Face."
The Song Button - Making his second appearance on The Button is Donovan performing one of the songs, along with last week's selection, that brought him to our attention in the Summer of 1965.
