Thanks, Larry for making that point. He does it in a way that makes it great for a sing-a-long. First time I've heard it from someone other than JS. It's a song that has wonderful words that spawn memorable images in the mind of the listener.

Similar to the recent post about Bob Dylan's Fare Thee Well , here's another song not usually thought of with banjo accompaniment. I found a few videos of the late Tommy Makem singing JS' Little Road And A Stone To Roll live. Here's one recorded at his former club/restaurant in NYC, The Irish Pavillion. He uses it here and on the other videos as an audience participation song and, of course, playing his banjo. Note that he changes the line in the 3rd verse from "Carole King tune" to "Glen James tune" [no idea of the reference].

A Little Road And A Stone To Roll — To me, this song expresses in simple allegorical terms, a philosophy to which I am attuned. I added the doo-doodle-do bits as a sort of mantra because I like the song so much and to help plant the ideas securely in my consciousness.
