Re: Time To Think
On Labor day of 2013, we raised enough money to install a new headstone. There is a headstone with all of their names including the names of the four American crew members because obviously omission to any part of society is wrong, so we included all the victims that died in that crash.
Dan is correct. For some reason the exact quote dropped some words. Originally there was just a stone that said "28 Mexicans" were buried in a mass grave. Much later an anonymous donor installed a marker with I think, all 28 names, 3 of whom were women. You can see both markers if you google "deportee marker."
I'm confused. Didn't Dan (bksflddan) write there was a memorial for these Mexicans which included their names?
If not, I'm with you, lash, there should be one with all victims names included. :>( Absolutely!!!!!!
Yeah. Well, you know, for the longest time, they were buried there in a mass grave, in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fresno, California. And for the longest time, it was just a stone marker. It had no words on it. And then probably - I'd want to say, about a decade ago - some anonymous donor gave a headstone that just - now, it just reads, "28 Mexican Nationals Who Died In A Plane Crash Are Buried Here." And that's been there for the last 10 years and now, we're at a point where we have these names, so what's to hold us back from sort of correcting a piece of history here, and affording these 28 passengers what every human being is afforded, and that's the right to have their names.
