I guess both our Countries....
The United States + Canada could sum things up in one sentence....
=> Simpler times melting like snow.
Y'know, just last week, with the snow melting in front
of our yard, we found a copy of Montreal's "The Suburban"
newspaper, dated earlier this year. I couldn't make
out the actual date - but it was definitely sometime in February.
Sometime after the death of our beloved Bob Shane. (Jan 26/2020)
(nothing's been the same since)
Anyhow, I could still read most of it, even in its battered, crumpled-up
condition. And Max, it was fun reading about life during...er...a simpler time.
Ironically, there was a quarter page article buried on Page 3,
about some "virus" up in China - but that didn't seem to matter....
after all, we live in Canada !!!
And on Page 4, there was some good news about our struggling Montreal
Canadiens hockey team. Our "Habs" actually won a big game against
their arch-rival Toronto Maple Leafs - in "overtime" (no less) !!!
On Page 5, there was mention of Gordon Lightfoot coming to Place Des Arts,
on April 7th, to perform what might be considered as his "farewell" concert.
(Gordo is 81 years of age) [ps: Julie & I bought tickets]
Another article was written about Canada's dynamic duo -
Ian and Sylvia Tyson got together at Ian's ranch to reminisce about the old days.
Sylvia had found a whole bunch of their audio tapes that were never released.
So here we are in April 2020:
Social distancing / Orders to stay home / Only "essential service" stores permitted to stay open
No parties / No get-togethers / No nuthin' / No jobs / Hospitals overloaded / etc...etc...
And Prime Minister Trudeau can be seen each morning at 11 o'clock on CTV -
giving us Canadians updates on Corona and all the steps his Government will be doing
to deal with our troubling economic situation and to combat this deadly virus.
One of them has been trying to get hold of high quality "Masks" manufactured
by the 3M Company in the United States. Apparently, President Trump is trying
to delay (or stop) any shipments of 3M "Masks" to any country outside the U.S.A. -
including Canada !!!
<<< welcome to April 2020 >>>
"The Suburban" newspaper came out sometime in February 2020
Life must have been so different back then, eh ???
BE WELL AND STAY SAFE OUT THERE + LET'S DREAM OF A BETTER TOMORROW
