It was OK to most people's ears.....
But......we all know that my ears........stick out !!!!!!
This show was done in Lexington, KY....
Where I grew up.
I lived in Lexington until my 2nd year of college.
Was gone for 27 years.
Returned and stayed 20 years
We left and moved to Louisville where Jackee's from 9 years ago..
The theater where the show was done is the Lyric.
The Lyric was a black movie theater in a black neighborhood.
It went downhill as soon as theaters were integrated.
Woodsongs began at the Kentucky theater.
A beautiful renovated movie theater...
It was where I saw most of the great movies when I was a teenager.
The Kentucky theater has great acoustics.
But no stage to speak of...it's always been a movie theater.
For years...the city tried to renovate the Lyric.
They were finally able to do it.
Woodsongs moved there because they installed all of the electronic stuff that's needed to do the show.
Plus, there's a real stage.....
But, the speakers for the audience sound system suck.
It was distorted a good part of the time.
I think they had the mics too hot.
On the playback...you can tell that the mics are too hot.
I have a great sound system on my computer.
So, my speakers didn't distort.
The last time I was at Woodsongs... John Stewart was the guest.
Probably about 15 years ago...maybe 12.
This radio show has unbelievable coverage....
It's EVERYWHERE !!!!!!!
Great exposure for the guys.
They didn't miss a beat.
I really liked George's plugged in guitar.
They didn't have his mic for the banjo as loud as it should have been.
Banjos always scare sound people.
Too much volume and they can be very overpowering.
If the banjo has a resonator...look aout.
George is an expert at knowing how close to the mic he should be...
with his banjo.... Shane was always very much on top of this....
I enjoyed seeing and hearing these guys a lot.
I think they're missing a song they should have.
Don't know what it is....but, I'll think of it...
Bruce...what about you know what?
I'd like to hear them do this one...
Without the key change... I HATE key changes...
