Gosh Peter, I haven't heard this song since I was a little girl.
I cried my eyes out then and today tears were rolling down my cheeks.
As Lord Tennyson's poem begins:
Tears idle tears, I know not what they mean,
Tears from the depth of some divine despair
Rise in the heart and gather to the eyes,
In looking on the happy autumn fields,
And thinking of the days that are no more.
- Alfred Lord Tennyson
# Thank you for mentioning Rick Daly.
I also miss Rick very much. We all do. :>(

I've been listening to Eddy Arnold records today and it brought back so many memories.
One song "Molly" ~ really hit me hard.
Admittedly, it's a sad song ---
but I kept repeating it on my record player and felt the need to share it here on Folk U.S.A.
Maybe it's because Rick Daly and I talked about this song a few years ago.
We both loved it and talked about the ravages of war.
(I miss our conversations so much)
Eddy Arnold recorded "Molly" in January 1964:
