Several years ago I sent Rick Daly a quote made by Woody Guthrie.
At one time Rick posted it, but I can't find it on this site.
Here's Woody Guthrie's quote:
"Life has got a habit of not standing hitched. You got to ride it like you find it.
You got to change with it. If a day goes by that don't change some of your old notions for new ones,
that's kinda the same as trying to milk a dead cow."

Geena, I never knew about Woody Guthrie losing a child (Cathy Ann) in a fire.
How horrible and how shocking. Life can sure play some cruel tricks on us.
Going back to Harry Belafonte's Greek Theatre concert (in 1963),
the opening number is a song from the viewpoint of chain-gang prisoners.
The men who sang it were chained together. The convicted murderer; the poor bail-bond risk;
the vagrant, whose only crime was homelessness and poverty > all chained together in their shackles.
Harry Belafonte quotes one of the prisoners:
"When you think I'm laughin', I'm laughin just to keep fron cryin."
