When I used to go to Rediscover Music (Naperville) owned by Allan Shaw, way before that social gathering my wife and I attended,
Allan's secretary told me John Stewart only treated folks up there in his "milieu" with respect and decency.
So I asked her - "How was John Stewart towards you?
Her reply: "A-loof."
Just want to add - I've exchanged some letters with Dave Guard (1989-1990) before he passed away in 1991.
We discussed his current CD: "Up & In" and he loved listening to all those talented musicians working so hard!
He sent me his "Up & In" CD autographed and so I thanked him (via mail) and asked Dave how he was doing? (battling cancer)
Dave Guard wrote me back and said -
"It's auspicious to be jolly - so that is the order for the day."
Dave Guard was a class act. (1934-1991)

Also, at that last concert I saw JS at he sang the same song twice in a row and didn't seem to know that he was doing that.

John Stewart & Nick Reynolds sing "Dreamers On The Rise"
I showed this LP cover (above) to John Stewart at that party 15 years ago.
John was laughing so much on those six little LP cover pics (on the left) - I asked him what was so funny?
He answered (in a 'passive-aggressive' manner):
"I Have No Idea"
*** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***
Remember the TV series "Hogan's Heroes" ?
Col Klink would scream out at Col Hogan:
"DIS-MISSED"
(and that's exactly how I felt - DIS-MISSED)

Hum 15 years ago, I think he was suffering by then (mental health that is). The last time I saw him was in Pawling, NY. He did the show ok but at one point he leaned forward and kept going forward I think someone caught him. After the show I asked him some specifics about "young Man From Boston" recording. He was rubbing his head not able to respond, I said you know John, he it was so long ago. That was the beginning of what killed him eventually

Without going into detail, I met John Stewart at a social gathering 15 years ago.
He was unkind and mean spirited so I've given away all my John Stewart albums
including his Cumberland Three records.
Since I'm a huge fan of The Kingston Trio, I decided to keep both NBD & NBJ albums.

I have a recording of "The Ridgerunners" a John Stewart involved folk group. Anybody have this recording and what do you think of it?
