Stuart has led an interesting life to say the least. He was a musical prodigy at a young age. His first job at fourteen was playing in Lester Flatt's band. After Flatt died, he played in Johnny Cash's band then went solo. He is in the Country Music Hall of Fame. Anyway, back to Hobo's Prayer.
What I love about this video is that it reminds me a lot of the Kingston Trio. I always enjoyed the banter before the songs. Stuart takes us down memory lane about his love of trains. Even without the lyrics, the melody and guitar solos take you back to an old train yard. Stay with it until the end. Stuart's guitar playing is fantastic. I prefer this live version to the studio take even with a few notes not perfectly hit. Trading sorrows for tomorrow's, that's the Hobo's Prayer.
Thanks to Rick Daly's family for keeping Folk USA going. It's a great tribute to Rick.
