Jim Croce lost his life 50 years ago today. In the summer of 73, I wore out that eight track tape of Croce's album "Life and Times" listening to it in my car. I remember thinking how unfair life can be, Croce's career just taking off and then losing him. Still makes me sad to think of what might have been and the great music that was still to come.
After his death, the release of his album "I Got A Name" has many eerie things about it. The title track reached #10 on the charts and was certainly a foreshadowing of what was to be. Croce indeed had made a name for himself. The final song on the album was "The Hard Way Every Time". Croce leaves us with the words "I wouldn't have done it any other way." Premonition of what was to come?
Jim, thanks for the music you gave us and God speed. MTABob
