First saw Gordon Lightfoot in 1975 at the Civic Center in Oklahoma City. I knew very little about him at the time. Just that he was coming off two monster hits, Sundown and Carefree Highway.

He opened the show with High and Dry followed by Carefree Highway. (That was the only show out of half a dozen I attended that I ever heard him perform Carefree Highway. Never understood why he would leave such a great song out.)

Anyway, what a joy to discover all the great songs he had written before the Sundown album. I was hooked for life and he became my favorite performer of all time.

I am not so much sad today but appreciative of all the great music I still listen to today. Lightfoot came across as a down to earth guy who you would enjoy spending time with. Which is what I am going to do today. Thank you Gordon Lightfoot for a lifetime of great memories and music. MTABob
