I think Shane started out in the Trio with a 000-28

The one that's on the first album cover.

On the video of the Trio playing Tom Dooley on the Milton Berle show... Dave looks like he's playing the 000-28.

Afterward, Bob got his first D-28. When D-28s are new, the tops are white. Look at the album covers and see how the top darkens over time.

Peter ??? bought this guitar from Bob (his first D-28). I've seen very good pictures of it. It had incredible grain on the sides and back. The Grover tuners were Nickel plated... not chrome. The nickel plated ones are very rare.

Bob's 2nd D-28 is the one he put the double pick guards on. Bob told me that he gave it to his brother-in-law. Louise's brother.

He got it from him for Martin to make the replica of it. My guess is afterward, he gave it back to his brother-in-law.

Bob's last guitar before 1967 was a D-35. You can see it on the Andy Williams shows.

A D-35 has a thinner neck. It's flatter. My guess is that Bob didn't like it for this reason. There's no telling what happened to it.

After 1967, Bob had many, many guitars.

My favorite was the Koa D-45. It could have been a D-41.

The last guitar that Bob played was a D-18. One that Martin made to look like a pre-war Martin with specially treated wood.
