In 2004 when Bob suffered his heart attack, he licensed the trademark to me, not knowing what his physical condition might be with respect to continuing his oversight for the group. That license was to continue on a year-to-year basis, but Bob regained his strength after leaving the road and he and Bobbie took charge of administering the group. In August of 2016, when the current licensing agreement was signed, we were unaware of what was transpiring and were not offered either a buy-in or the opportunity to license it ourselves. In fact, we knew nothing at all about it for nine months.
There are many "Hollywood stories" out there, and this is certainly not the most egregious. Once our ouster was determined to be legal -- after all, we were the face of the KT but were only Independent Contractors -- we moved on with our lives, personal and professional. I couldn't be happier than I am now with Rick and Jerry in the Folk Legacy Trio. We present a terrific show of the entire Folk Era, and audiences find it satisfying and entertaining.
