Link: My Sweet Lady...
There was. It's called The Americana Gathering now. Camp is not really what it is anymore. It's a musical fellowship.
I went this year as I've gone for the last ten years and loved it.
I haven't written much because right after the Gathering, I had to fly down to see my ill mother. Her lingering between life and death has been my focus for the past few months. She's hanging on for now but she begged me not to miss The Gathering.
The Gathering was great this year, musically, as the folk genre was well represented by all sorts of performers. More women took the stage and added their own flair. I won't say anyone was a stand out because ALL of them brought their best.
Four nights of great music with great friends...
Four nights of Bob Hawkins, Chuck Mcdermott, Dave Batti, Rob Reider, George Grove, Jerry Siggins, Rick Dougherty and Paul Gabrielson helping all the performers out. Some of the performers you may know. John Birchler was one...and did some great tunes and even closed out one of the shows....
If you want a taste of what the Gathering was like, check out this particular performance.
I selected it specifically for you, Rick Daly since you are a fellow John Denver fan...
Bob Blackstad does a great version of John Denver's "My Sweet Lady"....
This was posted by Paul Rybolt, who has uploaded a lot of performances from two weeks ago. Click on his name and subscribe and that will give you a true taste of the experience.
Yes, the Folk Legacy Trio did a great show and so did The John Stewart Band.
I cannot imagine being anywhere else with all the music and my family of friends....and yes, The Gathering will happen next year...dates and details to be announced..
For now, here's a clip...enjoy...
