Yes, Rick, that's what I heard re: John and his RB-180. He said the Gibson didn't cut as well as the Vega. A few years back I bought a "sold as is" Takamine 12-string from them. It has onboard electronics. They wanted $300 for it. I called and asked them what it needed done. They said a neck reset, dress the frets and a new saddle and I think re-glue the b ridge. I asked them how much for all the work and they told me $300. So I told them to go ahead and do the work and I'd buy it. It's a nice sounding 12-string. I bought two other Martins from them too, so I'm very impressed with Elderly.
As for the RB-170 at Elderly, note that it needs a fair amount of work. When you factor in the cost of that work, the price seems high to me.
