I had posted this some years ago but.. During the timeframe of the "Back In Town" album I saw the Trio at the IBM Club in Poughkeepsie, NY. Saw the concert and waited for the Trio to come out and sign my Back In Town album. They didn't come out. The crowd dispersed and I decided to go up behind the stage in the back area. No one there. There was a back door I opened it and saw the Trio disappearing down a long walk way to Limos. John was last he was running to catch the limo, there were 3 limos. My friend and I yelled John and we were running after him. He didn't turn around was running and waved his arm saying I have to catch a plane. My friend and I stopped dead in our tracks and went "Ohhhhhh" in disappointment. The second after that John stopped dead in his tracks and waved us to come, we ran he signed the Back In Town album and said I have to catch a plane. I have had opportunities to have Nick and Bob sign that album too. I didn't. Years later I had John sign it a second time with the then date.

Hard to believe it's been 13 years since John passed away on this date in 2008. He gave us a lot of great music both with the Trio and as a solo artist. I think of him as America's Balladeer. I was fortunate enough to spend time with him at my first camp at Scottsdale in 2007. Rest in Peace Johnny. And thanks for the music and memories.
