I'm talking about Josh Reynolds. Just to recap, he has a feud with Captain Marvinette and gets tossed out of the Marvinettes. Then, capitalizing on the death of Dan Hicks, joins a Dan Hicks tribute band that does a gig or two.
Almost immediately, he takes up with Tom Guard and a player named Buddy Woodward and forms the Powerline Junkies. This group was formed to do a Kingston Trio tribute. Their introductory rehearsal video was rank and nobody understood the name with the concept, so they changed it to the Folk Mafia, but everyone seems to have walked away suffering boredom.
Looking up Josh activities, it seems he still wants there to be a Folk Mafia...I think. The name was attached (by Josh) to a proposed podcast that started just about a year ago. It seems Buddy Woodward walked out of the project, and just Josh and Tom were involved.
By this past April, the podcast only featured, instrumental, commercial production type music (Josh's demos, perhaps?). And even that hasn't been done in about four months. All seems to be halted on that front too.
Googling "The Folk Mafia" gets you to a website that shows Josh and a few pictures of (I think) the fellow that played bass in the Powerline Junkies. It would appear that Tom is now off the project, only his eyes are shown in a banner picture.
As far as I can tell, it's only the one other member and Josh holding down the tent. It appears that the "Trident" name is also being used what might be a management company he's trying to get off the ground.
