This young man has down hundreds of videos talking about different guitar styles that cover everything from heavy metal to country. He talked about the Kingston Trio a couple of days ago and I thought you might enjoy it.
Great find, Bob. The young guy does a really good job, fundamentally re-casting the 5000 word article on Wikipedia (in the chronological order of the piece, even)of which I wrote 98% of the content and 100% of the 132 required footnotes in 2009. It has been viewed of 2 million times since then and used extensively by venues and the like for background info on the KT.
So - what strikes me about this is two things. First, the young guy went to all the trouble to prepare and record an 18 minute piece on a tune from 62 years ago and offers a good analysis of the simplicity and straightforwardness of the performance, and that's good stuff regardless of how much he leaned on Wiki for the background.
That is great stuff, but what impresses me even more is that first, he seems genuinely to understand what the KT was trying to do and really to enjoy it as well, and second that his 6200 views in the 3 days since its March 1 Publication have generated 339 comments up til this evening, mostly good ones too. THAT is a very impressive number demonstrating a good deal of interest in this guy's analytical videos and in the song itself - both really enjoyable to know.
