Re: Very interesting...
Well put, Robert....Probably the majority of the people who attend a show featuring the current line up...don't know the difference. They're hearing the songs live and re living good old days as they do. IMHO of course,, like most who post or read here, I'd certainly know the difference. Not to mention the sour taste left from the "Strange" business arrangement...TC
As Iíve said in previous posts, I have never seen nor heard the current Trio configuration nor do I know them. I only know what I read in here. Iím not shy to say I miss GBR who are my personal friends. I have my feelings and thoughts about their departure but have never shared them because it wonít change what is already done.
I always try to be objective and honest. Holding to that standard, unless for some reason the information posted is not correct, the KT seems to have a number of future concerts lined up. Someone (if not us in here) does want to see them if only to hear the songs they used to love and the memories those songs hold for them. I suspect the audiences who come to see the KT have no idea of the history of the group nor do they know the names of the current members with the possible exception of Josh Reynolds. I donít even know who the current group now includes. Reynolds or Haworth? Regardless of the opinions formed in here, the KT seems to be performing. If they appear in my city, I have no desire to see them. I did my 60 years. Iím satisfied.
Okay, that works. Real professional. officialkingstontrio. Says a lot about them that they have to precede kingston trio with professional. What BS. And this doesn't even show up on a Google search.
I knew they had a gig coming up at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA soon (I am not planning to go) so I checked the Birchmere website to see what it had to say. The gig is still on for 1/27 and there is a link to https://officialkingstontrio.org
but that was the only site I could find.
As Arte Johnson on Laugh In would say. I just tried as many combinations as I could, and it would appear there is no longer a Kingston Trio website? Even a Google search doesn't find any. Anyone know if they've finally gone down the tubes?
