He is in Canada today. Yesday was the last day in the USA.
Monday, 28th September – Friday 2nd October 2026
His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will visit the United States of America from Monday 28th September to Thursday 1st October, for a visit which will celebrate the relationship between the US and the UK, with a particular focus on shared interests around youth empowerment and opportunity, and the arts.
In New York, the Duke of Edinburgh will join representatives from the city’s cultural sector at the Metropolitan Opera to explore how education, public programming, and technological innovation can expand opportunity, strengthen community connections, and equip the next generation with confidence and skills.
The Duke of Edinburgh will join a roundtable at BNY on the workforce challenges facing both the UK and the US, discussing how employers and educators can work together to ensure young people have the skills and opportunities needed to succeed in an increasingly innovation and technology-driven economy. His Royal Highness will also attend the Wren Gala, presented by the American Friends of St. James’s Picadilly, of which the Duke of Edinburgh is patron.
In Baltimore, the Duke of Edinburgh will visit Western High School – the oldest all-girls public high school in the US – as they become a new Duke of Edinburgh International Award partner school. His Royal Highness will meet students and educators as they prepare for their first cohort of students to embark on the Award USA journey, as one of seven Baltimore high schools partnering with the International Award.
While in Washington DC, in recognition of the year of America 250 celebrations, the Duke of Edinburgh will visit Mount Vernon to tour the new education centre, meet supporters and historians and lay a wreath at the tomb of George Washington. His Royal Highness will later join The King’s Birthday Party at the British Ambassador’s residence, joining guests from the arts, heritage and education sectors to celebrate the US-UK relationship.
Later, the Duke of Edinburgh will present Gold Awards at a special ceremony at the British Ambassador’s residence. The Award USA serves young people in all 50 US states, with a growing network of 78 partners delivering the Awards across the country.
On Friday 2nd October, having travelled on to Canada, the Duke of Edinburgh will visit the Lassonde Art Trail in Toronto. His Royal Highness will then attend further engagements in support of The Duke of Edinburgh International Award Canada, meeting educators, Award providers, and students as part of an Experiential Education Gathering at Queen’s Park. This follows the recent announcement that The Ontario Ministry of Education will be expanding access to the Award across schools in the province. Founded by the Duke of Edinburgh’s late father, Prince Philip, over 70 years ago, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a globally recognised youth achievement programme that empowers young people aged 14–24 to set ambitious goals, challenge themselves and make a lasting impact.
He last visited the United States and Canada in 2025.

Re: The Duke of Edinburgh has visited the USA to celebrate the UK & USA Relationship
HRH does look much thinner again, but it's hard to tell with the suit he's wearing, which he looks like he's swimming in.... This past summer it appear that Edward had gained back some of the weight and looked good, I don't know. His face appears much thinner. It's a concern.
