Andrew Rejects The King's Invitation To Balmoral

"Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has reportedly rejected an invitation from King Charles to join the Royal Family at Balmoral this summer, amid claims he fears he would be treated as an “outcast”.

According to a report in The Sun, the King offered his younger brother the opportunity to spend part of the traditional royal summer gathering at Balmoral.

However, a friend of Andrew reportedly said he had little desire to make the trip to the Scottish estate because he believes he would feel isolated from the rest of the family.

The source claimed Andrew feels he has been “abandoned” and is no longer considered part of the Royal Family.

He is quoted as saying Andrew had been invited but “has got no great desire to be at Balmoral”, adding that he felt he had “nothing to gain” from attending if he would be treated as an outcast."

Hey, Andrew! Stop with the woe is me and alas, everyone is against me stuff. You did it to yourself. You are not a victim. Charles offered you a chance to start some healing within the family and you've chosen to pitch a temper fit. No, things will never be the same within the family, but you can apologize and just spend time with your siblings, daughters and grand children. Or just spend time riding and going for long walks.

He's still angry over everything he's lost. Due to his own stupidity, of course. We'll see if he changes his mind about coming to Christmas at Sandringham.

Charles seems to be very focused on healing rifts right now. I hope his prognosis is good.

It wouldn't be a surprise to me if Andrew skips Christmas at Sandringham for the same reasons he gives for missing Balmoral. He's pouting and yes, still angry at what he perceives as unfair treatment.

How I see it is that he knows certain people would be very frosty towards him, or worse.
The Wales family would not attend at all.
He knows just a few would be civil towards him - a very few.
He knows his presence would be a dampener on the event.
He is being realistic, regardless of what the King might wish.

I was thinking that the King issued the invitation which left it up to Andrew whether to accept or decline. It would head off the media stories about Andrew being "brutally snubbed" by his brother while on holiday at Balmoral. I believe the "snubbed" stories popped up at Easter and at Christmas also.
Since I'm not friends with the King and Queen, it could have been a sincere gesture or a gesture to keep Andrew from complaining later that he was left out of the family gathering at Balmoral.

Yes - the invitation avoids the "snubbed" media carry on.
I'm sure the King was genuine about the invitation but he cannot make everyone treat Andrew civilly.

Seriously, if you or I knew we would be unwelcome at a family gathering wouldn't we decline? We would not go where we knew we were not welcome.

I think Edward and Anne will visit Andrew at his new house over Christmas. They may even convince him to make a short visit to Sandringham, but not while everyone is there.
