A bit late as it's past midnight here in the UK.

15 years ago on 30 July 2011 Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall married at the Cannongate Kirk here in Edinburgh. I was standing on the pavement (sidewalk) opposite the Kirk and took this rubbish video. But, should give you some idea of what it was like on that day.

I remember that day. Zara looked gorgeous and Mike looked great. It was a happy day for the Royals.

I also manage to catch the Bride and her father arriving near the end of the video. The group I was standing with were convinced Zara was wearing trainers (sneakers) when she arrived and changed into court (pump) shoes once she'd walked over the cobbled stones and reached the church entrance. I agreed with them. We saw a lady arrive earlier, before the guests, and she was carrying a shoe box.

Trainers would have been the sensible choice for navigating getting into and out of the car and the terrain. Don't want to twist an ankle or anything right before the ceremony! I suspect Zara probably changed back into trainers at the reception, after all the formal photos were taken. They are much easier to dance in.

I have a friend that calls high heels/court shoes "one hour shoes." You wear them for one hour at church, etc and then get them off and into something comfortable. At my age, I've given up even on "one hour" shoes. It's all about comfort and safety.
