The Princess of Wales has released a photo from the top of Ben Nevis

marking the completion of her Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for a cancer charity and "explore life beyond diagnosis".

The future queen climbed the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon – within 24 hours this weekend, starting on Saturday evening.

Just when I think I couldn't admire Catherine any more than I already do, along comes this. She did it with no fanfare and no grand performance. She is amazing and O am so glad everyone was there to support her.

You've echoed my thoughts exactly, Holly. Beyond the grace and dignity there is a steel resolve wrapped in compassion that I cannot help but admire. She did not have to do this. She could have sponsored someone and just written a check. But pulling on the hiking boots and hitting those trails herself was so much more powerful.

She IS Catherine the Great.
